Gifted & Talented Students Celebrate Their Victory

On 9 July students from The Deepings School presented an hour-long activity on Fire Safety to the pupils of Bishop King Church of England Primary School at The Lincolnshire Fire Station in Lincoln.

The students from The Deepings school were the proud winners of The Embedding Enterprise English, Science and Modern Foreign Language Challenge set by Lincolnshire Fire & Rescue and presented their winning resources to 24 pupils from a local primary school. Their ideas included asking the pupils to act out a role-play, make posters and play an outside game with a focus on what to do in the event of a fire.

Highlights of the day included a tour of the station, trying on uniforms, the opportunity to sit in a Fire Engine and fire one of the hoses used by the fire fighters. Mark Bennett, Fire Education Officer gave the pupils a talk on the importance of Fire Safety and all attendees received a goodie bag for attending the day.

Andy Payne, Youth Engagement Manager for Lincolnshire Fire & Rescue said ' The day has been a great success and was even better than I could have ever anticipated.'

Congratulations to the students from The Deepings School for winning the award, The Fire & Rescue Service were so impressed with the students resources that they have asked them to present again to a number of primary schools in their local area.

In a separate celebration students from Skegness Grammar School visited Burghley House in Stamford on 20 July after winning the Design & Technology Challenge.

Well done to the students who won the Challenge, we hope you enjoy your day!
